If you are in need of credit repair, there are two ways that you can go about it. You can pay someone to do it for you or you can save that amount of money, usually hundreds of dollars, and do it yourself.
Understand first that some things cannot be fixed, like a bankruptcy which will remain for up to ten years and unpaid bills that could sit on your report for seven years. Criminal convictions have no limits as well as an application for $150,000 of credit. But to fix a mistake is not hard to do. You call the credit agency that you feel has made a mistake and tell them about it. Be prepared to give proof of your findings. Have originals, not copies of receipts or any other document that you feel will support your proof. Your letter to them should have your name and address of course, a detailed description of what you found to be incorrect and a request for it to be removed.
Generally, it will take thirty days for them to research your request and get back to you. Be sure you send your documents to the correct address as the wrong address will certainly slow the progress.
